Our editorial independence
Family Dentistry Clinic is an independent editorial directory. No dental clinic can buy a higher ranking, buy their way onto our editors’ picks, or buy protection from a downgrade. Our reviewer directory currently contains 20 published profiles across three listed specialty categories. The scoring rubric is published below.
We are funded by a small monthly subscription that dental practices can pay for an enhanced profile — photos, video, direct-booking integration, a link back to their website. That subscription buys presentation features only. It does not affect their score, their ranking, or their inclusion in any editors’ picks list. This is not a claim we make casually. Reviewers should disclose relevant conflicts before accepting an assignment.
If you believe a clinic’s ranking on our directory is influenced by their subscription tier, email Admin@familydentistryclinic.com. We will investigate every claim in writing, publicly.
How we score a clinic
Every clinic on our directory is scored on a 100-point scale across five equally-weighted dimensions. Every dimension is evaluated by a licensed dentist on our editorial staff, not by an intern, algorithm, or offshore contractor.
| Dimension | Points | What we check |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials verified | 20 | Every dentist’s DDS/DMD, board certification, license, and malpractice history is checked against state records. |
| Reviews audited | 20 | Cross-reference of Google, Yelp, and Healthgrades reviews. Incentivized reviews are identified and excluded from averages. |
| Price transparency | 20 | Do they publish prices? Do they give written estimates before treatment? How do their advertised prices compare to what they actually charge? |
| In-person visit | 20 | An anonymous consultation, an anonymous phone inquiry, and a full front-desk experience audit. For finalists, we book an actual visit. |
| Follow-through | 20 | How they handle billing disputes, refund requests, and treatment plan changes. We survey their most recent 100 patients. |
Our audit cycle
- 01Every 90 daysEvery clinic on our directory is re-audited on all five dimensions. Scores may go up or down. If a clinic drops below 85, they are removed from the directory pending remediation.
- 02Within 48 hoursEmergency updates for loss of licensure, state board sanction, or a malpractice settlement over $250,000. These trigger immediate removal from the directory.
- 03AnnuallyFull portfolio review by the editorial team. Editorial rubric revised if warranted. Any rubric change is published publicly with 30 days notice.
Who our reviewers are
Our reviewer directory contains 20 published profiles: 9 listed under Dentist, 9 under Oral Surgery, and 2 under Oral Medicine. Profiles list supplied education, location, specialty, and graduation details. A published profile does not by itself establish current licensure, board certification, or participation in a particular article review. Check the relevant licensing registry and the review attribution on the individual article.
Conflicts of interest
No reviewer scores a clinic in a state where they hold a business interest in a competing practice. If a reviewer refers patients to a clinic (formally or informally), they are recused from that clinic’s audit. All conflicts are disclosed on the specific listing where they apply.
Corrections and complaints
We publish every correction on our corrections page. If we get something wrong, we say so — when we found out, what we said, what we should have said, and what we changed. If you believe we got something wrong about a specific clinic or dentist, email Admin@familydentistryclinic.com.
