Dental bridge cost in Pittsburgh: what to expect and how to compare quotes

There is no public dataset of dental bridge fees for Pittsburgh practices, so we do not publish a “Pittsburgh average.” What we can give you is a sourced national benchmark, a checklist for comparing itemized quotes, and current information on how insurance and Pennsylvania Medicaid treat dental care.

National benchmark$5,197

CareCredit’s 2023–2024 research lists a $5,197 national benchmark for a traditional dental bridge. It is not a price for every bridge design. This is a national figure, not a Pittsburgh price.

Why there is no Pittsburgh price table on this page

Dental offices set their own fees, and no public source reports dental bridge prices across Pittsburgh practices or neighborhoods. Rather than estimate local figures, we show a sourced national benchmark and help you compare real written quotes from offices you contact.

How to get comparable quotes in Pittsburgh

Ask two or three practices for a written, itemized estimate for the same treatment. Ask each office to quote the same design and number of units, and to list any preparatory treatment separately.

Ask whether the quote covers the whole treatment or only one stage, and which follow-up visits are included. A lower headline price that leaves out part of the treatment is not a lower total.

Practices in our Pittsburgh listings include Merit Dental, Northside Dental, Refresh Dental Southside Works, Smiles by Hart and Southside Dental Pavilion. Listing is not an endorsement; confirm services and fees directly.

Coverage in Pennsylvania

Insurance and Pennsylvania Medicaid

Private dental insurance. Bridges are usually billed as major restorative care, so ask whether waiting periods apply and how much of your annual maximum the treatment will use. Ask the office to send a pre-treatment estimate to your plan, and check that the dentist is in your plan’s network. Our dental insurance guide explains how PPO and DHMO networks work.

Pennsylvania Medicaid for adults. Pennsylvania Medical Assistance covers adults 21 and older for exams, X-rays, cleanings, fillings and extractions, with limits. Services beyond those limits, such as some crowns, root canals and dentures, require a dentist-requested Benefit Limit Exception. Adult implants and orthodontia are not covered. Ask your Medicaid dental plan whether the specific treatment is covered.

Children. The adult benefit limits do not apply to children under 21. Pennsylvania CHIP also covers children’s dental care. See our Medicaid and CHIP guide.

Questions to ask a Pittsburgh practice

  • How many units are included, and which teeth are involved?
  • What material and bridge design are proposed?
  • Does the fee include a temporary bridge and fitting visits?
  • Are any extractions or other treatments billed separately?
  • Are you in network for my dental plan, and will you request a pre-treatment estimate?

Ask the office to mark each item as included, excluded or not yet determined, so you can compare quotes on the same basis.
